Luis de Carvalho is one of the leading Port and Destination Development Planners in the World, having completed over 60 projects worldwide in the last 15 years.

His extensive career in the cruise and travel industry spans over 40 years including positions with Premier Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Hilton Hotels, Crystal Cruises, TUI AG, Tumlare Corporation, Kuoni DMC, Consult DC and Bermello Ajamil & Partners Inc.


Currently he is the Cruise Commercial Director for Copenhagen Malmo Port (CMP) responsible for the ports of Copenhagen, Malmö and Visby which in total welcome approx. 500 cruise ships and 1 million passengers yearly.  

Copenhagen is one of leading ports in Northern Europe and one of the most sustainable ports in the world having inaugurated the largest shore power installation in Europe in 2025. Latest awards under Luis’s short time at the CMP include: Seatrade Cruise Port of the Year Award 2025; World Travel Awards Europe's Leading Cruise Port in 2024 and 2025; World's Best Cruise Terminal for Sustainability 2025 by the World Cruise Awards, and the Cruceroadicto Award as the best cruise port in Northern Europe in 2022 and 2025.

Luis is also a Cruise Europe Council Board Member (the largest port association in Northern Europe representing over 140 ports and companies), was voted the 2025 most valuable partner at Cruise Denmark Copenhagen and Beyond and is one of the most sought-by speakers in the cruise industry with over 85 speaking appearances at international cruise and tourism events in the last 15 years.
